sporty teapigs

It’s not just the big names that are doing great for UK sport!

On Sunday 7th July teapig Nick, Hannah and myself (James) took part in the London to Oxford 60mile bike ride.  A tiny ride in comparison to Hannah’s previous challenge, the London to Paris cycle with past-teapig Amie, but no easy feat all the same.

The weather was incredible, blazing sun from the word go at 8am. A couple of refreshment breaks, a energy gels and flapjacks later we crossed the line all together as a happy trio!

We each received a competition certificate to match our snazzy London-to-Oxford t-shirts, adding to our boxes of past achievements with many more to come.

After a quick pork and apple cobb, we popped the bikes on the back of my car in time for the heroic match between Murray and Djokovic. I wonder how many of you watched this nail biting match.

Add this to the mighty British and Irish Lions win in the final Rugby tour match against Australia, bringing the total to 2:1 to the Lions, the weekend had shaped up to be a pretty impressive marker for UK sport.

The following weeks brings with it some more chances for the British isles to show off their skills, the Ashes is in full swing with England pushing to make a dent in the impressive Australian debut Ashton Agar (currently playing in England for Henley CC).  And the we mustn’t forget the chance for a second British Tour De France winner in a row as Chris Froome leads the way with a 3min25sec lead over his rivals after Stage 12, pretty good considering last year Bradley Wiggins won by 3mins 21secs.  Just 9 stages to go until the 3404km race finish.  That’s the same distance as London to Cairo, Egypt. GO FROOME!

With so many other big British sporting names out there, and a country aiming to compete in loads of events, I think we can safely say we are taking the world by storm!
