teapigs Becky and Juliana headed off to Bermondsey last night for a very special frog filled event. You may have spotted the little green frog logo on our everyday brew packs – this means our tea is Rainforest Alliance certified. Each September, the Rainforest Alliance hold a Follow the Frog week to help raise awareness of the work they do and why it’s so important to choose rainforest alliance certified products.

But this year, they are doing something a little different! They have partnered with The Guardian and have extended their Follow the Frog week to a whole ten months! They held a lovely event for us and some bloggers at Hej coffee house and as well as being treated to some tasty sandwiches and awesome millionaires shortbread, we also got to learn more about their 10 month project.

So what does the little green frog on our packs actually stand for? It has been awarded to the tea estate in Rwanda where we source our everyday brew tea leaves. They have to meet a set of standards in order to become rainforest alliance certified which include conserving ecosystems, protecting the soil, waterways & wildlife and supporting farmers and their families with decent conditions.

Be sure to visit the Rainforest Alliance’s new collaboration with The Guardian, where for the next 10 months they will be sharing educational and interactive content to raise awareness on all sorts of important issues such as climate change, deforestation and water quality. Tensie, the president of the Rainforest Alliance says, “There is superhero that is going to save the planet, it’s up to us, we’re the heroes”

So go on, be a super hero! It can be easy as drinking a cup of tea. And for this week only to celebrate Follow the Frog, we have 10% off our everyday brew tea. Just enter FROG14 at the checkout. Don’t miss out, discount ends midnight on Sunday 21st September.
